Job Description – Assembler (Experienced)
Location: Fishersville, Virginia
Position Summary
The Experienced Assembler is responsible for building mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished modular furniture products according to engineering drawings, travelers, and Trident Maritime Systems' quality standards. This role requires hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, blueprint interpretation, fastener installation, and the safe use of hand and pneumatic tools. Assemblers must maintain accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail while supporting production workflow and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Production
• Assemble components and modular furniture units using drawings, travelers, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Identify, select, and install the appropriate hardware and fasteners (bolts, nuts, screws, washers, locking hardware) according to specifications.
• Use hand tools and pneumatic/compressor-powered rivet guns to complete mechanical assembly operations.
• Perform in-process checks to confirm correct fit, alignment, hole patterns, and hardware installation.
• Verify that completed assemblies meet dimensional, functional, and cosmetic requirements.
• Prepare assemblies for final finishing or shipment, including labeling, packaging, and staging.
Blueprint, Traveler & Specification Interpretation
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, exploded views, fastener callouts, and assembly details.
• Confirm material type, part numbers, hardware counts, and revision control prior to assembly.
• Follow traveler instructions to ensure proper routing and documentation.
Quality & Inspection
• Inspect assemblies for accuracy, alignment, and completeness.
• Use tape measures, squares, gauges, and other measurement tools to verify tolerances.
• Identify and document nonconforming parts or assembly discrepancies.
• Work with supervisors to resolve issues before release.
Material Handling & Equipment Care
• Move materials and assemblies safely using carts and shop equipment.
• Maintain hand tools and pneumatic/rivet equipment in clean working condition.
• Keep work areas clean and organized
• Maintain proper material traceability.
Other Duties
Perform all other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of fasteners and hardware installation practices.
• Experience using hand tools and pneumatic/compressor-powered rivet guns.
• Ability to use measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical work.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and consistent workmanship.
Schedule
Standard shift: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
