* Position Overview: Summer Strategy Intern (MBA) *
MP Materials is seeking an MBA student for a summer internship focused on strategy and growth initiatives. This role will provide the opportunity to work directly with the corporate strategy team on high-impact projects that shape the future direction of the company. The intern will gain exposure to strategic decision-making in a fast-growing industrial and technology business, with a particular emphasis on subsector research, evaluation of acquisition opportunities, and assessment of organic growth projects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on rare earths, advanced materials, and related downstream sectors (e.g., aerospace, EV, defense, robotics).
- Support evaluation of potential acquisition and partnership opportunities, including market analysis, financial modeling, and competitive benchmarking.
- Assess organic growth initiatives, including new product lines, vertical integration opportunities, and geographic expansion.
- Prepare materials to support senior leadership decision-making, including strategic presentations, financial models, and scenario analyses.
- Deliver recommendations and insights to the corporate strategy team at the end of the internship.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Current MBA student (completion of first year required).
- Strong interest in strategy, M&A, and industrials/energy/technology sectors.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; exposure to financial modeling preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or a related field.
- Familiarity with industrials, materials, or energy transition sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex issues into clear recommendations.**
