JOB SUMMARY
The Residential Support Worker for the Men's Residential Program provides direct supervision and support to adult male clients within a residential behavioral health setting. This role establishes and maintains a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment by implementing program objectives and supporting each client's Master Treatment Plan. The Residential Support Worker collaborates with counselors, nursing staff, and supervisors to promote client safety, skill development, and program compliance during evening, weekend, and assigned shifts.
JOB DUTIES
- Provide direct support and assistance to counselors and clinical staff as needed
- Maintain continuous awake supervision of male residents and the facility to ensure the safety of clients and staff
- Use sound clinical judgment and follow established procedures during medical, psychiatric, or life-safety emergencies
- Monitor and support client self-medication procedures and report concerns to the Nurse and Program Supervisor
- Communicate behavioral concerns or operational issues promptly to the Program Supervisor
- Instruct and assist clients with meal preparation and serving in accordance with the residential menu
- Develop and oversee chore and laundry schedules, providing training and assistance to clients
- Plan and implement structured daily living skills activities, including fire drills and safety drills
- Supervise clients during approved outings, field trips, and recreational activities
- Monitor phone usage, visitors, and building supplies to maintain safety, security, and agency property
- Complete all required documentation accurately and within required timeframes
- Attend residential staff meetings and supervision sessions as scheduled
- Secure the facility at the end of each shift, including doors, windows, and appliances
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver's License required
- Experience working in a men's residential, behavioral health, or substance use treatment setting preferred
- Knowledge of basic cooking and housekeeping skills
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and sensitivity to client needs
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts as required by the program
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in a residential facility environment
- Frequent walking throughout the facility and extended periods of standing
- Ability to lift and carry 25–50 pounds
- Moderate physical activity with minimal exposure to physical risk

Occupational Risk for Exposure to TB:
There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB, as this position involves extensive community and patient contact. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols. The only acceptable exceptions to this requirement are documented medical contraindications or religious objections. Employees who decline TB testing will be required to wear a mask when deemed necessary.
