Position Summary:
This position involves performing laboratory tests and assisting with diagnostic procedures in a primary care setting. The Clinical Laboratory Assistant will ensure proper specimen handling, accurate test results, and well-maintained laboratory equipment, contributing to the smooth functioning of the office's clinical operations. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively with medical staff to support patient care.
Supervisory Responsibility: No direct reports.
Location: Lancaster, SC or Kershaw, SC
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process adult and pediatric specimens (blood, urine, etc.) for laboratory testing.
Prepare and maintain lab equipment and instruments, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
Perform routine laboratory tests.
Accurately record and store laboratory results in patient medical records.
Follow established protocols for specimen handling, testing, and result reporting.
Assist providers and other medical staff in interpreting lab results to support diagnosis and treatment.
Ensure all laboratory operations comply with health and safety regulations, including the proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and request replenishments as needed.
Communicate with patients about lab procedures and provide follow-up instructions when necessary.
Collaborate with management and the medical team to improve lab workflows and patient care.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
•Education: Completion of a certified Clinical Laboratory Assistant program or related field, or equivalent work experience.
•Certification: Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant is preferred.
•Experience: Previous experience in a clinical lab setting, particularly in a primary careor medical office environment.
•Knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and quality control protocols.
•Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting common laboratory equipment.
•Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a medical team.
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
