Overview
The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a vital role in creating a positive experience. This role supports all front-desk operations and requires proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. You will play a crucial part in managing appointments, verifying insurance, maintaining accurate medical records, and handling scheduling, check-in, and check-out processes. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Duties

  • Greet patients, check them in and out, and manage appointment scheduling
  • Verify insurance, update demographics, and collect copays
  • Answer phone calls, address questions, and route messages
  • Ensure front-desk and office areas remain clean and organized
  • Scan and upload documents into the EMR
  • Process faxes, referrals, and medical record requests
  • Upload/download data from medical devices during patient check-in (as applicable)
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist (required)
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain smooth patient flow
  • Experience in an endocrinology practice (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (AthenaOne required)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and respond promptly to provider requests
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Familiarity with basic medical billing and insurance
  • Professional, friendly, and compassionate demeanor
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
