Unarmed Security Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and dependable Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our premises, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring activities, preventing loss, and responding effectively to emergencies. This role requires a professional with strong observational skills and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment through proactive surveillance and conflict management. This position requires strong situational awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact respectfully and confidently with the public.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid, unexpired South Carolina SLED Security Officer License (required at time of application)
• Physical fitness standards appropriate for security duties (ability to stand/walk for extended periods and respond rapidly to incidents, experience, ability, and willingness to physically engage with individuals as needed to de-escalate incidents as they arise.)
• Strong attendance and punctuality — no habitual tardiness or unexcused absences
• Professional appearance and grooming
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with the public
• Experience in conflict resolution (security, retail, hospitality, military, or law enforcement)
• Demonstrated sound judgment, maturity, and reliability
• Professional references that verify work ethic and character
• Submission of social media accounts/handles for employment screening purposes (included on résumé or submitted with application)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior law enforcement or military experience
• Customer service or public-facing work experience
• Experience deterring theft, monitoring environments, and documenting incidents
• Familiarity with writing incident reports and communicating with management

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible, professional presence to deter theft and unwanted activity
• Provide courteous and effective customer interaction
• Monitor store entrances, exits, and high-value zones
• Conduct foot patrols of designated areas
• Respond promptly to disturbances, suspicious behavior, or safety concerns
• Write accurate and timely incident reports
• Coordinate with store leadership and Dominion XP supervisors
• Uphold high standards of situational awareness and attention to detail
