Assist surgical team before, during, and after surgery.

• Other duties may be assigned.
• Opens, readies, and maintains sterile field for each surgical case.
• Passes instruments, assists with retractors.
• Provides relief to other staff as appropriate.
• Troubleshoots equipment as appropriate.
• Exhibits a commitment of exemplary customer service.
• Participates in the communication network with appropriate members of the health care team.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments as required throughout surgical procedure.
• Displays competency for age specific persons from newborn to geriatrics.
• Participates in precepting surgical tech students and new employees.
• Displays competency for the Surgical Technologist role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the FHN PRIDE Standards.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate of Surgical Technological Program or related on the job training with six to twelve months related experience. Associate's degree preferred.

• Surgical Technologist Certificate preferred.
• BLS required
