Outdoor Designer

Base Pay

This role has a minimum base pay from $15.80 per hour with higher starting pay available based on experience.

Purpose:

A Hardscape Designer plans, designs and creates beautiful and functional outdoor spaces by blending aesthetics with technical knowledge. They consult with customers to understand their vision, to make them become reality.

Key responsibilities:

• Client consultation:
  They meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget for the outdoor space.
• Design development:
  They create design plans, using a blend of creativity and technical skills. This involves preparing conceptual sketches, detailed construction documents, and specifications. Designs through hand sketches or computer-aided design (CAD).
• Aesthetic and functional planning:
  They balance visual appeal with practicality, ensuring the final design is both beautiful and meets the client's functional needs.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Successful landscape designers possess a combination of technical, creative, and interpersonal skills.

• Education: An associate or bachelor's degree in hardscape design.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
• Creativity and Problem-Solving: The ability to develop innovative and functional designs while addressing potential challenges.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present ideas to clients and work alongside various professionals.
• Attention to Detail: Precision in measurements, planning, and documentation to ensure accuracy during installation.
