Heavy Equipment Operator

Skilled operator in varying conditions and machines.

Pay/ Benefits: $24- $34Hr, depending on skill & experience. Health (medical coverage including dental and vision) 401k & Vacation.

Purpose of Position: Operate a multitude of heavy equipment in unstable terrain and difficult locations as well as standard commercial and large residential civil work. Labor when needed.

Employment Status: Full-time

Location: Northern Colorado Front Range, and surrounding areas

Including, but not limited to: Weld, Larimer, Boulder, Grand and Adams County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy machines in adverse conditions - including in-channel and wetlands
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Drive a vehicle to and from work
  • Maintain a punctual and consistent attendance
  • Wearing specified PPE and special safety equipment as directed
  • Maintain elevation and grade levels for trenching and excavating activities
  • Complete accurate timesheets
  • Utilize and demonstrate the use of technical and proficient trenching and excavation skills in direct coordination of all safety requirements.
  • Fine grade within +/- 1/10th
  • Labor for civil construction (misc tool use laboring ie shoveling / raking is a requirement)

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Outdoor work environments; Must be able to work in adverse outdoor conditions.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate machines, bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, or reaching above the head to store, retrieve or affix materials; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform skilled work and read blueprints, drawings or diagrams; lifting and carrying heavy equipment or materials. Driving a vehicle to conduct work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Need to be skilled and versed in the operator of:
  • Track hoe
  • Loader
  • Dozer
  • Blade
  • Skidsteer
  • Scraper / Haul Truck (Not required)
  • Comparable heavy equipment
  • Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, methods, and equipment of construction trades
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, sketches, manuals, or work orders
  • Meet schedules and timelines
  • Ability to work safely and productively
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with co-workers, architects, vendors and suppliers; work independently with limited direct supervision
  • Have basic management and people
  • Maintain simple and concise records and prepare accurate reports
  • Upkeep and operate late model equipment

Education, Training and Experience:

  • High school education
  • Education is not as important as skill

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Colorado driver's license
  • Pre-employment drug screening
