About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join Optum AI, UnitedHealth Group's enterprise AI team. In this pivotal role, you will architect and deploy scalable cloud platforms that support high-impact AI and machine learning solutions across various business units including UnitedHealthcare, Optum Financial, Optum Health, Optum Insight, and Optum Rx. Your expertise will enable the development of intelligent systems leveraging generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs), working with both structured and unstructured healthcare data. You will collaborate with world-class scientists and engineers to design enterprise-grade ML infrastructure, develop no-code and low-code AI applications, and ensure the deployment of secure, reliable, and high-performance platforms. This role offers the flexibility of remote work within the U.S., with specific in-office requirements for certain locations. Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Developer or similar role, with a proven record of delivering complex cloud-based projects
- 5+ years of experience working with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including serverless architecture, microservices, and containerization
- 5+ years of programming experience in languages like Python, Java, or Scala, with familiarity in distributed computing frameworks
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with Generative AI, including large language models (LLMs) and frameworks, developing and deploying Gen AI solutions
- 1+ years of experience ensuring security and compliance in cloud environments
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable cloud-based platforms ensuring high availability, reliability, and optimal performance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Contribute to technical architecture, making informed decisions on technology selection, infrastructure, and integration points
- Develop and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to maintain high code quality
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members to foster best practices
- Work closely with data scientists, product managers, and UI/UX designers to ensure seamless integration and superior user experience
- Stay current with advancements in cloud technology, AI/ML frameworks, and industry best practices, sharing insights with the team
- Monitor platform performance and optimize resource utilization for efficiency and responsiveness
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, scalable deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI solutions
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications using no-code, low-code, and advanced platforms to address business challenges and improve workflows
