Expert Tile Setter - Job Description

Country Creek Builders, Inc. is a family-owned business, established in 2009 as a general contracting firm specializing in high end residential remodeling. Country Creek Builders will strive to maintain a staff of skilled, motivated, and confident individuals with a desire to help promote the company's mission. Most of our residential projects are in the south metro area of the Twin Cities.

Tile Installation Skill (not limited to):

Seven Years' Experience is Mandatory (minimum):

  • All phases of Tile layout and installation including floors, walls, shower walls, and shower pans
  • Installation of solid surface curb tops
  • Installation of solid surface benches (floating)
  • Installation of recessed shelves
  • All phases of prepping surfaces for tile using Schluter Systems
  • Expert Knowledge of Schluter system shower pan installation
  • All Phases of Ditra installation
  • Able to measure, cut, shape and position tiles
  • Able to mix and apply thin set
  • Able to mix and apply grout
  • Able to install metal edge
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
  • In depth knowledge of ceramics, porcelain, and natural tile installation
  • All phases of grout and sealing tile
  • Able to run wet tile saw
  • Able to carry tile and tile prep materials

General Responsibilities

As an employee of this company, you are expected to represent the professional image of this company as follows:

The standard workday is Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though the work week fluctuates based on the volume of work and specific deadlines; Some weekend work, but limited. Must be on time to work every day, calling before the start of the workday if illness or family emergency prevent your attendance that day.

  • It is every employee's responsibility to be productive on the job site. If you have completed an assigned task, ask to be given another, or preferably, use your initiative to suggest another task. If the Job Lead is busy use the time well by cleaning up, stocking materials, etc.
  • Safety is important on many fronts. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those working with you. You must learn the safety practices of this company and adhere to them.
  • Phone APP time card system is required for all employees
  • At times, you will be asked to work independently. This will require attention to detail, quality, and an ability to stay on task until finished.
  • In the absence of the Job Lead, due to illness or attending to other responsibilities, you are responsible for working with other employees, remaining on task and are productive. At times, this will mean assigning new tasks in the flow of work.
  • May be assigned to General carpentry labor when needed; included but not limited to Demo, framing, steel stud framing, engineered floor installation, painting, staining, window installation, commercial work, and all other phases of remodeling
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Keep Job site and home secure
  • Install Carpet protector, floor runners and zip walls as needed
  • Clean job site daily
  • Respect client's property and home
  • Communicate with Homeowner on design, layout and installation

Job-Site Supervision Arrive on the job site as directed by project manager. Normal start time is 8:00 A.M .Monday through Friday.

  • Take lunch and breaks as directed by your project manager to ensure a safe job site.
  • Create a working environment that brings the best out in other employees and that uses time as efficiently as possible.
  • Install all dust, safety and security protections before any work is started on the project.
  • Enforce all company policies regarding safety, foul language, drugs, drinking and smoking. If someone continues to violate these policies, it is your responsibility to report them to your supervisor.
  • Enforce all company safety policies and provide safe conditions for both workers and clients.
  • Do not perform any work not in the contract, and/or assigned by lead or owner,
  • At the request of the Job Lead unlock the job site at the beginning of each day and secure the property at the end of the day.
  • Protect the client's property from theft, damage, or weather-related loss.
  • Protect any items that will be reused or cannot be removed from the construction area, such as cabinets, bushes, pool tables, client's furniture and flooring, etc.
  • Maintain a clean job site as seen from the street.
  • Remove large quantities of debris daily or as needed.
  • Never use a client's property or tools.
  • All tasks assigned by Job Lead include but are not limited to:
  • Cleaning site – materials stacked neatly, floors cleaned, tools put away, yard cleaned, trash piled neatly, mud off driveway and roads
  • Moving construction materials
  • Installing dust protection before work begins & maintaining it
  • Tool setup and break down each day
  • Taking part in all training opportunities
  • Learning by watching, asking questions, and participating in the work

Tile Labor: Seven (7) Years minimum experience is MANDATORY

Pay will depend on experience

  • Assist homeowners with Design and tile layout
  • Assist homeowners with design of recess shelf and its location
  • Able to work independently or with other team members
  • Get answers to questions when plans and specifications are unclear.
  • Complete all work related to Tile and other work generally done by this company such as:
  • Schluter system installation
  • Kerdi Board installation
  • Ditra membrane installation for floors
  • All phases of tile installation including shower curbs, shower pans, wall tile and floor tile
  • Back Splash Tile installation
  • Metal edge profile installation
  • Able to perform work such as bathroom demo, kitchen demo, general construction and help on other projects as needed
  • Other Requirements: Minimum of 7 years of tile installation required
  • TOOLS: Required for Tile setter – General Hand Tools Required
  • Country Creek Builders, Inc. will provide all tools needed including the following: Trowels, floats, levels, screw guns, saws, saw blades, Pneumatic tools, compressors, Utility knife, knife blades, tile spacers and disposable items. Company vehicle provided to get from shop to job location. All Country Creek Builders owned tools & equipment must be maintained and returned to storage when not in use. Report any faulty equipment to Job Lead.
  • Company truck will be provided; employee must keep the vehicle clean at all times.

BENEFITS:
All full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week will receive medical, dental, basic life, LTD and 401K benefits. Restrictions apply.
