A Brief Overview
The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist performs all routine diagnostic and emergent therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures. Assures equipment is functioning properly. Produces and evaluates data, information, and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure. Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patients' vital signs, interpreting status information and performing/functioning in one or more of the following: monitor, scrub, or circulating technologist. Educate patients, family members and Cath team. Stock inventory and all other duties as assigned. What you will do
Tests equipment for proper functioning and availability.
Assist the RN/Physician with proper positioning of the patient.
Ensure appropriate supplies are available for the physician.
Participates in physician updates.
Handle or label specimens appropriately
Actively participate in procedural time-out and label all medications/solutions to be used during the procedure.
Education Qualifications
Certificate from a program of study leading to credentials as RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist), ARRT(R) Radiography, ARRT(VI) (Vascular Interventional Radiography), and eligible for certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA), application under "invasive specialist" Required
Associate's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
Prior experience as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech Preferred
Experience with physiological monitoring systems, sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations, vascular, device implantation Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitoring
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health for On Call requirements
Demonstrate proficient skills and/or complete an approved Tidelands Health EKG/Rhythm interpretation class within 60 days of hire
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Required or
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Required or
Radiography - American Registry Radiologic Technologist Required or
Vascular Interventional Radiography - American Registry Radiologic Technologist Required
If RCIS, RCES credentialed and/or a new graduate Cardiac Catheterization Technologist employee must be eligible to apply and obtain Invasive Specialist certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) within 60 days of employment. Employee must also obtain CIS license through SCLLR within 120 days of employment Required
If ARRT(R) or ARRT(VI) credentialed, obtain certified by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) within 60 days of employment Required
If ARRT(R) or ARRT(VI) credentialed,
