Job Title: General Handyman

Job Summary

General Handyman will be responsible for performs diverse, small-scale maintenance and repair tasks for residential or commercial properties, handling everything from fixing leaky faucets, patching drywall, painting, and assembling furniture to electrical/plumbing fixture replacement (light/fan/minor plumbing), gutter cleaning, and basic carpentry, requiring proficiency with various hand/power tools, good problem-solving, and knowing when to call a specialist for complex jobs. Reports to Maintenance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• General Repairs: Fix walls (drywall, plaster), doors, windows, floors, and trim.
• Plumbing: Repair/replace fixtures like faucets, showerheads, and clear simple clogs.
• Electrical: Install/replace light fixtures, ceiling fans, and outlets (basic level).
• Painting & Finishing: Apply paint, stain, and caulk to surfaces and fixtures.
• Assembly & Installation: Assemble furniture, mount TVs, shelves, and install appliances.
• Exterior/Carpentry: Repair fences, decks, siding, and clean gutters.
• Maintenance: Perform routine checks, clean equipment, and handle move-in/out tasks.
• Prioritize work according to work order and/or homeowner specifications.
• Notify supervisor of any homeowner issues/repairs needed promptly.
• Notify supervisor of any homeowner complaints or compliments.
• Perform any other duties that the Supervisor or Manager may assign.
• Ensures all client homes and commercial offices are secured and armed as directed according to company policies and procedures
• Responsible for the safety and security of all client keys
• Respect clients' and co-workers' property at all times
• Maintains an accurate payroll time card that reconciles to all work orders
• Correctly completes all work orders according to company policy.
• Maintains assigned company vehicle and tools properly
• Responsible for following the company cell phone policy
• Responds to and immediately reports any safety hazards about a company vehicle, residence, or commercial building.
• Must follow all country club and gated communities' rules and regulations
• Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures per company policy and immediately report any incidents to supervisor and/or Safety Director.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Previous handyman and maintenance experience
• High School Diploma/GED preferred, but not required

Required Skills

• Tool Proficiency: Expertise with common hand tools (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers) and power tools (saws, drills).
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues and find practical solutions.
• Communication: Clear communication with clients to understand needs and explain solutions/costs.
• Time Management: Efficiently handle multiple tasks and appointments.
• Knowledge: Understanding of basic maintenance, safety, and when a licensed trade (electrician, plumber) is required.
• Must be able to effectively and thoroughly pay attention to detail
• Must be able to work with maintenance tools safely.
• Must be safety-conscious
• Must be able to prioritize workload and complete all tasks in the scheduled time
• Ability to read and understand basic English
• Must demonstrate professional communication skills and exceptional customer service skills
• Ability to greet clients professionally and maintain a friendly and positive attitude at all times

Special Requirements

• Must successfully pass company background check and drug/alcohol test
• Must have a valid California driver's license and maintain ongoing insurability
• Must be flexible to work weekends and overtime if required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
