Boden Talent is partnering with a global, innovation-led organization to appoint an
Engineering Director
to lead enterprise-wide engineering strategy, infrastructure, and technical operations across a highly complex, performance-critical portfolio.

This is a highly visible leadership position for a technically credible, strategic executive who operates effectively across engineering excellence, capital delivery, operational reliability, and scale. The role is central to enabling next-generation R&D, product development, and advanced operations globally.

The Role

As Engineering Director, you will define and execute the global vision for engineering, facilities infrastructure, and technical services across multiple sites. Your scope includes capital programs, mission-critical systems, compliance, reliability, and user experience, with a strong emphasis on building future-ready environments that support innovation at scale.

Key Responsibilities Engineering Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the global engineering and infrastructure strategy aligned with long-term business objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and lead senior engineering leaders across regions and technical disciplines.
  • Establish governance frameworks, KPIs, and risk management strategies across all engineering functions.
  • Act as a strategic partner to R&D, operations, workplace, EHS, and real estate leadership.

Capital Projects, Design & Delivery

  • Oversee major capital programs, including new builds, expansions, and complex retrofits.
  • Set and maintain engineering design standards focused on flexibility, compliance, and lifecycle value.
  • Own capital planning, budgets, schedules, and delivery performance at a global level.
  • Lead and manage external partners, consultants, and contractors.

Engineering Operations & Infrastructure

  • Ensure reliability and performance of mission-critical systems including HVAC, MEP, clean power, gases, utilities, and specialized environments.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize uptime and resilience.
  • Standardize engineering operations and asset management practices across regions.

Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC) & Operational Readiness

  • Provide engineering oversight for MAC activities, equipment relocations, and space reconfigurations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to minimize disruption while supporting rapid change.
  • Develop scalable standards, playbooks, and execution workflows.

Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable EH&S, HSSE, and regulatory requirements globally.
  • Champion a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage data, CMMS, and smart building platforms to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, facilities, or infrastructure roles within technology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, or semiconductor environments.
  • Deep expertise in mission-critical and highly technical building systems.
  • Proven track record delivering large, complex capital programs across multiple regions.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Demonstrated success leading globally distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Preferred Background

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations in high-growth environments
  • Strong systems thinking, execution discipline, and stakeholder management capability
