Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Department: Facilities Management

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt - Eligible for Overtime
Employment Status: Part-Time

Location: Harrison County Community Hospital (HCCH)
Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Director

Job Summary/Objective:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility's mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. This role includes performing preventative maintenance, addressing safety concerns, and maintaining the hospital grounds to ensure a well-functioning and welcoming environment. The technician will work according to diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications and may supervise less-experienced mechanics or helpers as assigned.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • May perform maintenance, repairs, and preventative care on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal facility operation.
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust energy consumption using computerized technology for efficiency.
  • Maintain and repair facility infrastructure, including door hardware, keying systems, and general structural components.
  • Conduct safety inspections, implement compliance measures, and participate in safety programs to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Maintain hospital grounds, ensuring landscaping, walkways, and outdoor areas are safe and well-kept.
  • Utilize tools and equipment to fabricate and repair mechanical components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist less-experienced staff or helpers as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
  • On-call duties are required on a rotating basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in using tools and equipment for mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for energy monitoring and reporting.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Education, Certificates, and License:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or related field preferred.

Certificates / License:

  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
  • Dexterity: Adequate motor skills for handling tools and operating machinery.
  • Environment: Exposure to noise, heat, and potentially hazardous materials; must use appropriate safety gear.
