The Low Voltage Service Technician position is a multifaceted position within SCI Electronics & the low voltage industry. This person will have advanced trouble shooting techniques and skills as pertains to audio-video, access control & CCTV systems while maintaining knowledge of structured cabling standards. This person needs good planning and communication skill sets to ensure that daily and emergency customer service needs are adequately supported.
This position will require daily communication with the service manager & customers to assure a high level of customer satisfaction. The individual will work with service manager to record proper time coding of activities and manufactures for creating RMAs for product repairs.
The service technician is responsible for the oversight and quality of all service work being performed to assure the quality is maintained or improved on from the original installation.
The Low Voltage Service Technician will share the company's core values of honesty, integrity, and continued self-improvement. Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Improve the customer service experience while taking ownership of customer's issues and follow problems through to resolution.
· Follow the companies service procedures, policies, and standards including clock-in" and "clock-out" electronic time stamp / timesheet information via mobile workforce management software program.
· Keep accurate records and document customer service actions and discussions.
· Ensure that a consistently high level of service and installation quality is delivered to all customers.
· Effectively execute the RMA process
· Computer/tablet (SCI provided)
Required General Skills / Experience:
· Experience in providing customer service support.
· Strong client-facing and communication skills.
· Results driven and customer focused.
· Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
· Familiarity with industry's rules and regulations.
· Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills.
· Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Working knowledge of customer service software, databases, and tools.
· Proficiency in utilization of Microsoft Office suite software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Acquire and maintain basic hand tools required for day-to-day workload execution to include:
o Multi-meter
o Cable Pair Test Set
o Soldering Set
o Cable Toner
· Possess and properly maintain individual Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
o Hardhat
o Steel toed footwear
o Safety glasses
o Safety Vest
· Skill sets shall include but not be limited to the following.
o Understand basic networking principles.
o Understand Daisy Chain, Star & Ring network architecture.
o Understand basic networking principles.
o Understand and execute proper bonding and grounding installation.
o Understand and execute proper Lightning protection installation.
o Understand wattage requirements in a low voltage system.
o Understand and execute basic troubleshooting of audio, video & security components.
o Understand and execute proper methods of rack and panel installation.
o Perform trouble shooting and installation of the following:
§ Magnetic locks, electric door strikes, and electric dead bolts
§ Request to Exit sensors, door position sensors, and electric crash bars.
§ Card reader including switch plate, Prox Pro, and biometrics.
§ IP and non-IP remote door controllers
§ Analog & IP interior and exterior cameras
§ AC and DC power supplies with fused distribution
§ 70-volt distribution speakers (paging/EVAC)
o Perform simple configuration and modification to access control database.
o Perform simple configuration and modification to DVR's, NVRs, and IP cameras
o Properly test control connections between processors and door hardware devices
o Properly test Coaxial cable using and RF meter (dB loss)
· Structural Cabling skill sets shall include but not be limited to the following:
o Tone wire and cable for continuity
o Terminate all types of General Use Coaxial Cable (RG59, RG6, etc.) compression and non-compression.
o Terminate RJ45 jacks including shielded & non shielded, including modular plugs.
o Have a working knowledge of 110 and 66 terminals.
o Test Coaxial cable using and RF meter (dB loss)
o Properly label Outside Plant cable at entry and exit points.
o Properly set up and test with a Fluke Versiv for copper testing
o Set up and test fiber using a power meter and light source.
o Set up and test fiber using an OTDR.
o Set up and terminate fiber using Corning Unicam (LC, ST, SC)
o Splice fiber using the Fusion Splice method.
o Install a wireless access point in an office & outdoor environment.
Qualifications:
· HS diploma or GED
· CCTV manufacturer training, preferred.
· Access control manufacturer training, preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
