*Salary:* $8,625.00 – $11,557.00 per month (New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary or minimum of alternate range when applicable)
*Job Summary*
The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is seeking a *Network Engineer* to serve as a technical lead in configuring, implementing, and supporting DPR’s enterprise and cloud network infrastructure. DPR protects human health and the environment by regulating pesticide sales and use and is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA).
*Key Responsibilities*
* Act as lead network engineer supporting LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and virtual/cloud networks.
* Configure, patch, and secure network devices (e.g., Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco switches & Wi-Fi).
* Monitor network performance, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot issues.
* Participate in IT projects and initiatives at departmental and statewide levels.
* Prepare configuration guides, documentation, and operational procedures.
* Represent DPR on shared services support teams.
* Participate in network maintenance and communicate impacts to DPR’s IT Branch.
*Working Conditions*
* Work requires use of computers, infrastructure hardware, networks, and related systems.
* May occasionally work evenings/weekends for outage/maintenance support.
* May travel statewide at short notice (may include overnight travel).
* May require lifting/transporting equipment up to 50 lbs.
*Telework*
* This position _may be eligible_ for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, based on eligibility criteria and program need.
* Employees residing outside California are _not eligible_ for telework.
* Regardless of telework eligibility, reporting to the designated headquarters may be required at employee expense.
*Minimum Requirements*
* Must meet Minimum Requirements in the _Information Technology Specialist II_ Class Specification.
* If education is required to meet minimum qualifications, applicants must include a copy of degree and/or unofficial transcripts with their application.
* Unofficial transcripts may be used to verify qualification for filing; official transcripts must be provided prior to appointment if selected.
* Do _not_ include confidential information (e.g., SSN, birthdate, marital status, medical conditions) in application documents.
