We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Austin, Texas. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documentation, verifying order details against packed items, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining accurate shipping records. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for handling various shipping software and systems, so a comfort level with technology is essential. Adherence to all safety protocols is paramount in this role, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The ability to perform tasks involving lifting is also a requirement, as you may need to move packages of varying weights. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outgoing shipment documentation, including bills of lading and shipping labels.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing orders by comparing them against packing slips and customer orders.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain organized and accurate shipping records, both physical and digital.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., warehouse, sales, customer service) to resolve any shipping discrepancies or issues.
- Ensure all packages are properly labeled, packaged, and secured for transit.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety and logistics best practices.
- Perform tasks requiring lifting of packages up to 50 lbs.
- Utilize shipping software and equipment to manage and track shipments.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of shipping supplies and reorder as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role preferred.
- Proficiency with computers and common shipping software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capability of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE.
