Are you a detail-oriented professional seeking a challenging role in a dynamic logistics environment? We are looking for a skilled Shipping Clerk to join our facility in Durham, North Carolina. In this position, you will be instrumental in managing the accurate and timely processing of all outgoing shipments, ensuring they meet quality standards and are dispatched efficiently to our clients. This role is central to our supply chain operations and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare all outbound shipments, including verifying order details and packaging accuracy.
- Generate necessary shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and commercial invoices.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and manage delivery timelines.
- Operate shipping equipment, including pallet jacks, shrink wrap machines, and label printers.
- Conduct quality checks on outgoing packages to ensure they are secure and properly labeled for logistics.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the shipping status in our inventory management system.
- Ensure the shipping area is clean, organized, and adheres to all safety regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in managing inventory levels within the shipping department.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding shipment status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and common office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to perform lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Strong understanding of shipping carrier requirements and logistics best practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
