The Driver / Behavioral Aide is a dual-role position responsible for safely transporting students to and from campus while also providing on-campus behavioral and instructional support. This role requires flexibility to work a split shift, strong student supervision skills, and the ability to support students with learning, social, emotional, and behavioral needs in both transportation and classroom environments.
Work ScheduleThis position requires flexibility to work a split shift, Monday–Friday.

Morning Shift: 4:30 AM / 5:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Afternoon Shift: 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Hours may vary based on student assignments and program needs.
Driver Responsibilities

Safe Vehicle Operation: Operate agency vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and safety practices to ensure student safety at all times.

Student Supervision (Transportation): Monitor and support students during transportation to maintain safety, security, and appropriate behavior.

Loading & Unloading Procedures: Follow all safety protocols for loading and unloading students, including four-point securement of wheelchairs and scooters when required.

Record Keeping: Complete all required transportation documentation, including van attendance, 1:1 logs, behavioral logs, and fuel purchase records.

Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of vehicles and on-board equipment; report maintenance or repair needs promptly.

Errands & Transport: Conduct program-related errands, including package deliveries, late runs, and transporting students to workability events or appointments as needed.

Navigation: Utilize maps and/or GPS to ensure timely and efficient routes.

Student Support: Provide direct behavioral and instructional support to students on campus in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

Instructional Assistance: Assist teachers with classroom instruction and provide individualized academic and behavioral support.

Behavioral Intervention: Model and implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to increase positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.

Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergency situations (e.g., behavioral crises, fights, seizures) using approved Pro-ACT and/or CPI intervention techniques.

Supervision: Monitor and assist students during class transitions, breaks, meals, transportation, and bathroom use.

Recreational & Community Activities: Participate in and/or facilitate recreational activities, athletics, crafts, and off-campus trips.

Data Collection: Accurately document daily behavioral data, skill development, incidents, and progress toward learning objectives.

Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with supervisors, teachers, and agency staff regarding student progress, concerns, or incidents.

Substitute Support (BA III only): Serve as a substitute teacher when assigned to ensure continuity of instruction.

High School Diploma or GED required

Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record

DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background Clearance

TB Clearance

Ability to read maps and use GPS

Proficiency with basic computer software and internet applications

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Reliability, flexibility, and dependability

Must be at least 21 years of age (due to driving responsibilities)
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, and moderate to high noise levels

Physical Activity: Frequent reaching, handling, standing, walking, lifting, and securing mobility equipment
