Project Estimator Mechanical HVAC
Position Summary
The Estimator position is responsible for supporting the sales staff on estimates. These efforts include job walk-throughs, drawing take-offs, subcontractor pricing, material pricing, labor estimates, proposal scope development, and bid coordination. This role demands a unique blend of sales, engineering, project development, technical expertise, and an understanding of MEP Systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Identification and Assessment:
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and stakeholders to gather project requirements and objectives.
- Conduct thorough assessments at job locations, facilities, and project scope accurate estimations
- Review mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications as required to identify project requirements.
- Develop detailed scopes of work and specifications to address project objectives.
- Prepare cost estimates to allow business case discussion with stakeholders
- Responsible for reviews of estimates and proposals.
- Responsible for ensuring that estimates are accurate.
- Obtain equipment, subcontractors, and material pricing with an accurate labor estimate for projects.
- Responsible for qualifying bid opportunities based on workload and core capabilities.
- Ensure the Proposal review process is followed prior to release of proposal.
- Manage proposal scope development and bid coordination.
- Attend project site visits and pre-bid meetings, as required. Required to travel to job sites to perform an onsite evaluation of facility and equipment identified in the Customer's scope of work and/or to assist internal customers with estimating projects, contracts or proposals.
- Proposal Development:
- Work closely with Engineers and subcontractors to develop bid documents and firm project costs
- Develop comprehensive project proposals including detailed scopes of work, plans for Electrical and mechanical system upgrades, repairs, replacement, and Maintenance.
- Ensure proposals align with client needs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial assessments and cost-benefit analyses to demonstrate the economic viability of proposed projects.
- Provide accurate estimates for budgeting and project feasibility.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate project development and implementation.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and clients to ensure seamless communication.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay current on industry regulations and standards related to MEP Systems and Operations.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in engineering project development, particularly mechanical estimating of HVAC and/or critical cooling projects.
- 5+ years in Project Management
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.PE certification is preferred.
