ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for leading the collection, storage and analysis of data related to Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Facilities Information Management (FIM); supporting the planning, development, establishment, and implementation of BIM and FIM strategies, standards, processes, and technologies, and ensuring that the facilities management system is current and accurately reflects the state of facilities.  Responsibilities also include maintaining BIM systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations, as well as managing records, archiving, and retrieving design documents for all facilities. Additionally, this position supports the space management process.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

•    Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of BIM and FIM standards and protocols including the design, implementation and utilization of applications, tools, technologies, concepts, and methodologies for the Branch.
•    Supports management in communicating the value of BIM standards, protocols, and quality assurance procedures. 
•    Assists various project teams during the tendering, proposal and submission process to help define BIM and FIM scope, workflows, and plans.
•    Creates and maintains a file management system for FIM drawings and BIM models.
•    Provides training, technical support and guidance to project teams on the use of BIM and FIM tools and software; acts as a subject matter expert on BIM related issues and provides troubleshooting where required.
•    Supports the development of training materials to promote BIM and FIM standards and best practices.  
•    Coordinates the exchange of technical information with contractors/vendors, and reviews and interprets design concepts and schematics provided by external partners to ensure they are compatible and complete. 
•    Leads the development and maintenance of master drawings and drawing requests, specifically architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil drawings for Regional facilities.
•    Monitors quality control procedures to ensure that all 3D and 2D drawings are accurate.
•    Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and policies for all Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) activity relating to CAD, including CAD Management Standards.
•    Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations to enhance modelling processes and workflows.
•    Supports the development and implementation of innovative BIM/FIM technologies and practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
•    Keeps abreast of industry trends, software, and technology by attending training sessions, seminars, and/or workshops.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


•    Successful completion of a Community College diploma in Architectural Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Minimum five (5) years relevant experience in BIM Management, modeling of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, particularly HVAC, and related technology, project delivery and coordination, integrated workplace management systems (IWMS), and AutoCAD. 
•    Proficiency with BIM software tools such as Autodesk Revit or similar 3D authoring program. 
•    Thorough knowledge of BIM quality assurance guidelines and standards.
•    Knowledge of building design, mechanical, electrical, and structural components, as well as lease formats, language, and document organization.
•    Strong attention to detail with ability to conduct critical assessments of projects, identifying issues and recommending solutions.
•    Demonstrated ability in the Region's core competencies.
•    Advanced skills in virtual platforms and MS Office Suite.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, presentation and report writing skills, and ability to connect with a range of internal and external partners while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
