Mechanical Design Engineer Norwich, Norfolk We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the talented team at Lintott, part of Galliford Try. In this role, you'll play a key part in creating, developing, and overseeing the design of mechanical assemblies for our innovative Treatment System products.
What you will be doing:
Reviewing mechanical elements of specifications, tenders, and project requirements, developing technically robust and value‑engineered solutions.
Producing high‑quality CAD models, drawing packs, design documentation, calculations, and technical reports that support efficient project delivery and uphold our service excellence.
Designing a wide variety of components including GRP water treatment kiosks, storage tanks, pump cabinets, pipework systems, and structural frameworks.
Applying Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) and value‑engineering principles throughout your work without compromising standards or requirements.
Procuring materials and obtaining quotes for bespoke components and producing precise Bills of Materials.
Researching design solutions, estimating costs and timescales, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Collaborating regularly with customers, clients, contractors, the Project Manager, and wider design team, communicating any issues promptly and professionally.
Attending site meetings where required and representing our culture and values.
Conducting product testing and evaluation, and recording, analysing, and interpreting test data where applicable.
About You: We’re looking for someone who is passionate, proactive, and technically skilled, with:
Solid experience using Autodesk Inventor/Inventor Professional.
Proven, demonstrable experience in a mechanical design environment.
Knowledge of the Water Industry.
An understanding of electrical wiring regulations and the Machinery Directive.
A minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
Familiarity with Change Management, Kaizen, or Organisational Excellence principles.
