General Statement of Job

Under general supervision, performs specialized clerical work relating to scheduling, coordinating and monitoring National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) Inspections. Work is performed within established departmental policies and procedures, and in accordance with HUD regulations and guidelines.

Essential Duties:

Review reporting of inspections to be scheduled.

Coordinate with Housing Inspector to ensure all required inspections are scheduled.

Follow up to ensure inspections are accomplished on time as required.

Contact landlords and clients as required.

Monitor timeliness of inspections to ensure deadlines are met.

Provide results of inspections to Eligibility Specialists.

Answer landlord and client routine questions on policies and procedures and HUD guidelines relating to the NSPIRE inspection programs; refer difficult or unusual questions to Supervisor.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

An AA degree in Business Administration, Human Services or a related field and at least two (2) prior experience in a human or social services environment is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification as an NSPIRE Inspector will be required at time of being hired or within one (1) year of being hired.

Rent Reasonableness and Interpersonal Skills Training is preferred.

Possession of a valid Florida driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of housing quality standards under the HUD Section 8 program.
  • Knowledge of community social service programs and services.
  • Knowledge of principles of business English, grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations that require the incumbent to make major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
  • Skill in record keeping, recording and retrieving general information.
  • Skill in dealing effectively with the general public, exhibiting excellence in customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as calculator, computer and telephones.
  • Ability to establish and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including tenants and landlords.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.

Pay: $43, $54,497.55 per year
