Position Overview:
The Construction Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager will serve as a key assistant to the Project Manager/ Site Superintendent, helping coordinate, plan, and execute multiple construction projects across Clear Summit's portfolio. This position bridges the field and the office, ensuring all project activities run smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with Clear Summit's quality, budget, and scheduling standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Field Support
- Support daily project operations, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Review, track, and log RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and procurement of materials and equipment.
- Coordinate communication between architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field staff.
- Conduct regular site visits to document progress, identify potential issues, and support problem resolution.
- Help maintain and update project documentation, drawings, and progress reports.
- Support quality control efforts to ensure workmanship meets Clear Summit's standards.
Administrative & Office Support
- Assist the Project Manager with preparing project reports, meeting agendas, and progress summaries.
- Maintain organized project files (digital and physical), ensuring documentation is current and accessible.
- Track contracts, invoices, and purchase orders in coordination with accounting.
- Schedule and coordinate project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and distribute action items.
- Assist with onboarding new subcontractors, collecting insurance certificates, and verifying compliance documentation.
- Manage communication logs, correspondence, and internal project updates.
- Provide general administrative support to the construction management team as needed.
Technical & Software Skills
- Mark up and edit drawings, and convert files into PDFs using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Edit and transpose commercial drawing files into PDFs or submittal packages for client and project use.
- Maintain accurate digital documentation and ensure file management standards are met.
- Support the technical side of submittal preparation, drawing coordination, and plan updates.
Cross-Site & Portfolio Support
- Assist in managing multiple active sites, including hospitality, resort, and residential real estate projects.
- Work closely with leadership to align budgets, financial reporting, and project forecasts.
- Contribute to process improvements and systems that enhance project efficiency and team communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferred, not required) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in construction project coordination, engineering, or assistant project management.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat, including file markup, PDF editing, and document transposition.
- Ability to work remotely and independently while managing assigned tasks and deadlines.
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or MS Project.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Hands-on, proactive problem solver with attention to detail and accountability.
- Capability to complete a practical take-home assignment related to editing PDFs and compiling drawings to demonstrate technical proficiency and problem-solving ability.
