SUMMARY
The Staff Training and Development Coordinator, under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, will be responsible for training CAT staff in accordance with CAT, local, State, and Federal training programs. This position coordinates all administrative training programs for the Chatham Area Transit Authority.

The Staff Training & Development Coordinator will maintain and update CAT's administrative instruction manuals, assist with new employee orientation, and administer internal assessments of staff training and development needs and achievements. The Coordinator will report on the key performance indicators of the CAT's approved training program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Assists in collecting, verifying, and entering data for reports.
  • Maintains all employee training files.
  • Ensures accurate record keeping, including pulling notices.
  • Conducts classroom training under the approved staff training and development schedule.
  • Assists and provides operational support to meet specialized administrative training needs as requested.
  • Counsel personnel regarding the Authority's policies and procedures.
  • Works in concert with the Authority's Managers and Supervisors regarding administrative training needs.
  • Assists in developing and implementing training and certification programs.
  • Train new hires in company policies and procedures and implement effective training methods for a specific purpose or audience.
  • Gather and evaluate information from employees and management on previous administrative training coursework to identify weaknesses and areas of additional training.
  • Attend seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques using the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The preferred candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in human resources management, education, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the transportation industry and one (1) year of comprehensive training and staff development experience, or any combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Previous work experience as an educator, training coordinator, training facilitator, trainer, or similar role within the area of public transportation or a related field, with a proven track record of conducting successful training programs. The successful Administrative Staff Training & Development Coordinator is expected to be familiar with current training techniques. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to demonstrate an analytical approach to problem-solving. Identify, analyze, and apply/recommend practical solutions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS – Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. English required, bilingual skills (specifically Spanish) a plus.

REASONING SKILLS – Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in wide-ranging situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS – Advanced computer skills are required. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, Internet software, e-mail, and/or database software.
