We are a busy orthopedic surgery practice seeking a Workers' Compensation Care Coordinator to manage and coordinate care for patients with work-related injuries. This role is critical to ensuring seamless communication between patients, providers, employers, adjusters, and insurance carriers while maintaining compliance with workers' compensation requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with workers' compensation insurance and orthopedic surgery, understands the administrative and clinical nuances of WC cases, and thrives in a detail-driven, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience working with Workers' Compensation insurance required
- Experience in an orthopedic surgery or musculoskeletal practice strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation workflows, requirements, and authorization processes
- Familiarity with WC patient intake and case setup
- Proficiency with EMR systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Professional and effective communication style with patients, providers, and external stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of care for workers' compensation patients from intake through treatment completion
- Manage WC patient intake, including verification of claim details, employer information, adjuster contact information, and authorization status
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the practice, workers' compensation adjusters, nurse case managers, employers, and patients
- Communicate with insurance adjusters to obtain and track authorizations for visits, imaging, procedures, therapy, and surgeries
- Ensure all services rendered are appropriate, authorized, and documented in accordance with workers' compensation guidelines
- Prepare and submit required documentation, reports, and clinical records to insurance carriers and case managers as needed
- Monitor case progression and proactively address delays, denials, or gaps in authorization
- Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, imaging, physical therapy, and post-operative services related to WC cases
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation within the EMR and workers' compensation systems
- Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative leadership to ensure continuity of care and efficient clinic operations
