JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Controller for Intermountain Beef & Roost Potato Company plays a critical role in the financial health and stability of the company(s). The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, payroll, forecasting, and applicable compliance across multiple, intertwining business entities. The Controller's expertise and leadership are essential to ensuring accurate financial reporting, sound financial decision-making, and the overall success of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:
  • Collects, consolidates, and analyzes financial data from various sources.
  • Develops and implements strategic plans for financial operations, aligning with company goals and objectives.
  • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for both internal and external stakeholders at the CEO's discretion and direction.
  • Manages budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights into future financial performance.
  • Establishes and maintains effective financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Assesses and improves accounting procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Evaluates accounting software solutions to optimize financial management processes with the CEO's approval.
  • Completes payroll on time, according to company standards, every bi-weekly pay period, as well as manages all payroll liabilities and ensures compliance with all required entities.
  • Manages Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Manages inventory for cattle, feed, fuel and farm crops, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintains and manages accuracy for all relevant data between the company's cattle management system(s) and QuickBooks.

· Human Resources:

  • Supports HR functions by maintaining accurate records of current and past employees, including onboarding documentation and personnel files.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable financial rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Coordinates external auditor activity, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Manages regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Leadership & Analysis:
  • Provides senior company leaders with insightful financial information and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identifies, develops, and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates procurement activities to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Operations:
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager to ensure accurate data entry and record keeping within the Feedlot Record Management system.
  • Maintains detailed and organized records of employee time sheets, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Manages employee information and communication within the company's human application systems.
  • Assist in anything else needed and/or delegated to the controller by the CEO, VP, or AGM

Performance Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Attendance and Punctuality
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Effectiveness in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic financial plans.
  • Strength of leadership and communication in providing financial insights to senior company leaders.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating financial risks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of accounting procedures and financial controls.
  • Effective Teamwork with other leaders and/or employees, as well as providing positive leadership with all team members.

Pay: $70, $100,000.00 per year
