Position Overview
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports daily operations at Best Little Kitchen by acting as a key holder and shift leader. This role focuses on running smooth, consistent shifts, supporting the General Manager, working with other shift leaders, and ensuring service and kitchen teams follow established standards.
The Assistant Manager sets the tone for the shift, maintains guest satisfaction, and supports team members throughout service.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership
- Open and close the restaurant as a key holder following all opening and closing procedures
- Lead assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations and consistent service
- Monitor dining room, host stand, expo, and kitchen flow to maintain speed, accuracy, and quality
- Support servers, hosts, and kitchen staff during peak times
- Manage shift breaks and ensure coverage
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment throughout the shift
Guest Experience
- Greet guests and assist with service recovery issues
- Monitor service quality and step in immediately when guest concerns arise
- Maintain positive relationships with regular guests and support a warm, welcoming atmosphere
Team Support
- Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to team members during the shift
- Uphold all policies, standards, and expectations outlined in the Employee Handbook and Operations Binder
- Serve as the on-shift point of contact for questions, direction, and issue resolution
- Support training of new employees by demonstrating correct procedures
Operational Tasks
- Ensure accurate order taking, food running, and table management as needed
- Oversee expo line for accuracy, ticket times, and quality control
- Assist with inventory counts, stocking, and prep only as directed by the General Manager
- Verify restaurant cleanliness and readiness before and after each shift
- Complete shift checklists and communicate issues clearly to the General Manager
Key Holder Duties
- Execute secure cash handling according to company standards
- Lock and unlock the building as scheduled
- Perform end of day paperwork, safe counts, or closing tasks as assigned and trained
- Maintain responsibility for alarms, keys, and building access
Qualifications
- Prior restaurant experience required
- Leadership experience preferred but not required
- Ability to stay calm and organized under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent in following procedures
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods
Schedule
- Full time
- Must have open availability for nights, weekends, and peak shifts
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
