Nursing Assistant Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients and nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home health environments. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care practices and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Provide basic patient care in critical situations, including emergency medicine scenarios.
  • Support patients with catheter care and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Assist with mobility needs, including transferring patients safely from beds to wheelchairs.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to implement patient care plans effectively.
  • Exhibit knowledge of anatomy to assist in providing appropriate care for various conditions.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and their families during hospice care or geriatric services.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is a plus.
  • Knowledge of critical care practices and emergency medicine procedures is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others in need.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Experience in geriatrics or hospice care is beneficial but not required.
