Salary Information: $20.00 per hour (2 hours guaranteed)
Benefits: This position is eligible for Montgomery County Sick & Safe Leave and is not eligible for additional benefits or paid time-off.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Shuttle Van Driver is responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe transportation, loading, and unloading of students to and from assigned destinations. It is the role of the Shuttle Van Driver to ensure that all activities support the safety and welfare of all passengers and that vehicle operations consistently adhere to school, DOT, and safety standards. This position requires demonstrating the competencies and behaviors needed to provide premier customer satisfaction, maintain punctual attendance, and support the core values, vision, and mission of Rochambeau.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Provide daily transportation for passengers to and from destinations, safely and efficiently loading and unloading all passengers.
  • Conduct required pre- and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions, adherence to school and DOT standards, and compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Maintain an accurate pre- and post-trip logbook and assigned fuel usage logs.
  • Comply with all State driving regulations and established transportation procedures.
  • Keep the shuttle bus secure and follow all safety procedures; maintain alertness and observe authorized/unauthorized activity, taking appropriate actions.
  • Assist passengers when boarding and exiting the vehicle, as needed.
  • Perform daily/routine cleaning and maintenance activities to maintain a neat and orderly appearance.
  • Ensure reliable and punctual attendance, which is paramount to the effective functioning of the daily transport schedule.
  • Promote good customer relations by consistently providing premier customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help.
  • Use a two-way radio to interact and communicate professionally with the transportation officer and/or supervisor.
  • Prepare and submit accident/incident reports and promptly report all maintenance needs, problems, or other required shuttle information (mechanical or cosmetic) to management.
  • Work well with others and function as a strong team player.
  • Perform other related/additional duties and tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver's license (Class C or higher).
  • Must be able to submit and pass a drug screen and criminal background check, including Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Must be able to meet the following Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) guidelines:

  • Have a clean driving record (no moving violations in 3 years and no DUIs or suspended licenses in 5 years).

  • No "Major" violations within five years (DUI, speeding over 15+ mph, driving without a license, etc.).
  • No active reckless driving violations (within five years).
  • No active leave the scene, vehicular homicide/assault violation.
  • No more than one violation of texting or using a cell phone while driving a non-commercial motor vehicle.
  • No record of refusing an alcohol test.
  • No violation constituting a serious traffic offense (e.g., Excessive speeding, Reckless Driving, Improper or erratic lane change, etc.).
  • Proficient in using technology, specifically iPads, for student registration and other tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to interact and communicate respectfully and effectively with students and staff members in a cooperative manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance at work.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Rochambeau's vision, mission, values, and strategic aims.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent) desired.
  • Bilingual fluency in French and English desired.
  • Experience in a private, international, or school setting is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position primarily operates in school, outdoor, and in-transit environments. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc., and maintain physical mobility, including extended sitting, walking, standing, twisting, and stair climbing.
