Low Voltage Estimator

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Low Voltage Estimator to join our growing construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for low-voltage electrical systems, including data, security, fire alarm, and communication systems. Your expertise will help guide project bids, ensure cost-effective solutions, and support the successful execution of complex construction projects. Duties

• Prepare comprehensive estimates for low-voltage electrical systems by reviewing project plans, specifications, and the scope of work.
• Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to develop precise cost proposals and bids.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and develop competitive pricing strategies.
• Analyze project drawings and technical documents to identify material quantities, labor needs, and equipment costs.
• Apply knowledge of NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards to ensure estimates meet safety and compliance requirements.
• Apply knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards to ensure estimates meet safety and compliance requirements.
• Assist in cost control efforts during project execution by monitoring budgets and identifying potential overruns early.
• Upload diagrams, specifications, schedules, and estimates into the company database

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on low voltage electrical systems.
• Strong electrical background with hands-on construction site experience or construction management knowledge.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating or project management software tools.
• Solid understanding of construction contracts, project management principles, and cost control techniques.
• Knowledge of NEC standards, electrical codes, and industry best practices for low-voltage systems.
• Excellent negotiation skills to manage vendor relationships effectively.
• Ability to work from pictures and rough diagrams on retrofits to develop a cost estimate and bid.
• Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications accurately. Preferred qualifications include construction site experience, familiarity with contracts related to electrical projects, and a background in construction management or electrical trades.
