Lead Emergency Response Trainer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Emergency Response Trainer to oversee and deliver courses, including but not limited to HAZWOPER 40, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry (CSE), Confined Space Rescue (CSR), CPR/First Aid, and other safety and emergency response training programs. This role is primarily based out of our Training Center in Pueblo, CO, with travel to other company locations as needed to provide training and support. The Lead Trainer ensures employees receive consistent, high-quality instruction that meets regulatory and company standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Delivers classroom, hands-on, and practical training sessions across 160+ courses in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations
  • Participates in the creation of new coursework in collaboration with the training team
  • Develops and maintains training materials, lesson plans, and evaluation tools
  • Assesses employee knowledge and skills, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement
  • Maintains accurate training records and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Stays current with industry regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure training content remains up-to-date
  • Fosters a positive learning environment and engage participants of varying skill levels.
  • Collaborates with HR, Safety, and Operations teams to schedule and coordinate training sessions
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and mentor for other trainers
  • Travels to company locations as needed to deliver specialized training or provide support
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in emergency response, emergency management, emergency operations, safety in industrial settings, HSE, or safety training roles
  • Current certifications in relevant areas (e.g., HAZWOPER 40, CPR/First Aid Instructor, Confined Space Rescue, OSHA, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations and standards
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging, interactive training to adult learners
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel extensively across the U.S., sometimes on short notice
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple training schedules simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Relevant Certification (i.e., OSHA Safety, Emergency Response, etc.)
  • Experience with mobile/remote training programs
  • Experience developing e-learning or hybrid training programs

Work Schedule/Work Environment

  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends depending on training needs and location availability
  • Work involves a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on practical exercises, and field demonstrations.
  • Trainers will often work in industrial, field, or emergency response environments, including confined spaces, or outdoor sites, depending on the course.
  • Travel requirements: occasional domestic travel, often requiring overnight stays. Travel is coordinated with the training and operations teams.
  • Trainers should be comfortable lifting moderate equipment, setting up training props, and conducting physical demonstrations when necessary.
  • The role requires flexibility and adaptability to different learning environments and conditions.

Compensation range:

$58, $150,000.00
