Director – Surgical Services

Heartline Staffing, Strategic Talent Partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for a high-volume surgical services department within an acute care hospital environment.

The Administrative Director of Surgical Services is responsible for delivering outstanding patient experience, driving service line growth, developing perioperative leaders, and managing resources with strong business and clinical acumen. This role maintains critical physician and executive relationships and ensures excellence in quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across surgical services.

This leader sets the strategic vision for Surgical Services, oversees program development, ensures consistent standards of care, and leads performance improvement initiatives. The Director actively advances patient experience initiatives, employee engagement, leadership development, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital standards.

Compensation & Key Details:

• Salary Range:

  – Minimum: $146,203  

  – Midpoint: $190,070  

  – Maximum: $200,000  

• Director Incentive Bonus: 17.5% (up to 150% upside)  

• Relocation Assistance: Available  

• Scope: 18 Operating Rooms, 2 Endoscopy Suites  

• Annual Surgical Volume: ~12,000 cases  

• Service Lines: Neuro, Spine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Cardiovascular, Oncology  

• Robotics: 2 Mako, 2 Globus, 3 Da Vinci XI  

• Open Heart Program launching in early 2026

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required

• Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred

Licensure / Certification:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred

• Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Surgical Services required

• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Qualifications:

• Strong strategic, operational, and financial leadership experience

• Demonstrated success in regulatory compliance, performance improvement, and physician relations

• Proven ability to develop leaders, manage complex surgical programs, and drive service line growth
