Job Overview
Amalga Composites is a growing specialty manufacturer seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to lead our shipping and receiving operations and support continued growth. This role is hands-on and will report directly to the Finishing Supervisor while working closely with production, quality, and logistics partners.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in a manufacturing environment who can drive improvement, bring structure to day-to-day operations, and lead change on the shop floor. This role plays a key part in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality execution by collaborating with internal teams and external carriers while reinforcing a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Duties

  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and support shipping associates to ensure consistent execution, accountability, and productivity.
  • Shipping Execution: Coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, on time, and in line with production priorities.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all products are packed, labeled, and shipped according to company quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor finished goods inventory, perform cycle counts, and flag discrepancies or issues to management.
  • Order Verification: Confirm shipment accuracy, including quantities, labeling, and documentation, and resolve issues quickly when they arise.
  • Safety: Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and control shipping costs.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with production, procurement, quality, and customer service to resolve shipping-related issues.
  • Shipping Documentation: Maintain accurate records such as bills of lading, packing lists, and carrier documentation.
  • Performance Tracking: Track key metrics for shipping performance and support continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Prior experience leading or supervising shipping and receiving activities in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and inventory processes, including experience working with Epicor or similar ERP systems.
  • Comfortable using computer systems to track inventory, shipments, and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials and perform hands-on work as required.
  • Forklift operation experience or ability to become certified.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and hold a team accountable.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
