Veterinary Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to our animal patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff. Duties

* Greet clients & patients, record animal's weight on electronic scale, admit to exam room.

* Assist veterinarian & technician during examinations and procedures.

* Assist with the administration of vaccinations and medications as directed by veterinarians.

* Collect specimens & perform routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and fecal floatations.

* Answer telephones, help maintain accurate medical records and update patient information.

*. Ensure cleanliness and organization of reception, exam, diagnostic imaging, surgical, & animal confinement areas.

* Help prepare animals for surgery.

*. Provide post-operative care & monitor recovery.

Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.

• Knowledge of sterile technique, laboratory procedures, & medical instrumentation is an asset.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Attention to detail is essential for collating information during client phone calls, animal admits & releases, & subsequent record keeping.
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is a must.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
