About the Role:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to residents within healthcare and social assistance settings. This position focuses on supporting nursing staff by providing essential resident care, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The CNA serves as a critical link between residents and the healthcare team, observing and reporting changes in resident conditions to promote timely interventions. Through direct interaction with residents, CNAs contribute significantly to the overall resident experience. Ultimately, this role is fundamental in maintaining a supportive and efficient healthcare environment that prioritizes resident dignity and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Kansas.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a CNA in a hospital, nursing home, or long-term care facility.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills developed through prior healthcare roles.
  • Abilities to support diverse resident populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive and reassuring environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of resident rooms and equipment to ensure infection control standards are met.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals regarding resident status and care needs.
  • Assist with resident transfers and positioning to prevent bedsores and promote comfort.
  • Support the implementation of individualized care plans under the supervision of registered nurses or licensed practical nurses.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls and requests, ensuring timely assistance and attention.

The required skills enable the CNA to provide direct resident care efficiently and safely, ensuring that all activities of daily living are performed with attention to patient dignity and comfort. Effective communication skills are essential for accurately reporting patient conditions and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver coordinated care.
