The Academy of Ophthalmology is looking for a Clinical Teams Content Specialist for their Practice Management Department for Ophthalmic Professionals™ (AAOP™). This position is 100% remote anywhere within the U.S.
AAOP is the Academy's home for technicians, scribes and other clinical team members. As a membership organization, AAOP supports the exceptional delivery of physician-led patient care through education, training and career development. This position is responsible for developing and delivering educational content for ophthalmic practices' clinical team members. This includes writing articles, presenting in person and online courses and providing private consulting to ophthalmic practices. This position will also be responsible for supporting the AAOP committees.
AAOP Content Creator
- Create clinical team content for:
- Live courses and webinars
- Articles for Clinical Teams Express
- Articles and other content for website
- Assists with the development of educational products for AAOP members.
AAOP Private Consultant
- Create, implement, and provide services for AAOP members.
- Provide consulting clients with a report of vulnerabilities and recommendations for improvement.
Project Management
- Manage the AAOP webpages to ensure that content is accurate and timely
- Manage the production of the quarterly Clinical Teams Express
- Oversee AAOP-talk community to engage the members and encourage participation
AAOP Committee Supervision
- Supervise the AAOP Editorial and Annual Meeting Committees which includes facilitating content development, requesting meeting agenda items and adhering to Academy policies for committees.
- Works directly with AAOP Committee Chairs to request member contributions to courses, webinars, content and the community.
- Supervise the AAOP Annual Meeting committee to grade, select the courses for the Technician Track, intensive courses and workshops at the annual meeting.
- Supervise the AAOP Editorial Committee.
- Facilitates the scheduling of the AAOP courses at the annual meeting.
AAOE Support
- Provide AAOE member support as requested
- Create AAOE practice management and coding content as requested.
Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate and teach ophthalmic technician clinical skills.
- Ability to identify educational gaps in member resources and training programs and develop clinical team curriculum for onsite courses, consulting and educational pathways to fill those gaps
- Advanced level knowledge of clinical teams' skills, clinical flow and training programs
- Proficient in medical coding for ophthalmology
- Proficient project management skills
- Proficient instructor with the ability to present comprehensive technician training courses both in person and virtually and provide onsite private consulting in ophthalmic practices
- Ability to adjust course curriculum to the unique levels of experience of each attendee
- Ability to utilize experience as an ophthalmic technician to identify learning gaps and then develop new clinical teams' products and content
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed
- Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
- Critical thinking skills to analyze data and develop sound, clear recommendations
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite,
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and SharePoint,
- Experience with running meetings on Zoom
- Proactive and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to teach complex concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate with people from all levels including AAOP board members, physicians and staff at ophthalmic practices, and Academy staff
- Ophthalmic certifications or designations preferred
- Minimum of five years' experience as an ophthalmic technician required
- Must pass the OCS and OCSR exams within 12 months of hire date.
Compensation for this position is determined based on the candidate's location and the corresponding cost of labor in that geographic market. The salary range will be aligned with internal equity and benchmarked against national market data, adjusted for regional cost-of-living differences. Candidates will receive specific salary information based on their primary work location during the interview process. Salary: $72,000 - $95,000
