Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Flexible Schedule, some nights and weekends required
Position Summary: This position coordinates and implements the temporary Emergency Hotel Sheltering Program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for working with partner hotels to maintain positive relationships between Unity Shelter and guests of the program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for intake and ongoing support of US hotel participants.
Location: Multiple locations throughout Corvallis with office space available at the Admin office.
Position Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain positive, working relationships with existing and potential partner hotels
- Collaborate closely with Executive Director (or leadership staff) to coordinate appropriate participant intake.
- Manage and update participant tracker, HMIS, Shelterware, and other databases as required in a timely manner.
- Provide basic needs support and referrals for participants.
- Engage regularly with guests to check on room conditions, and ensure compliance with hotel behavior rules.
- Participate in Unity Shelter required training related to Housing First principles, Trauma-Informed Care, Crisis Intervention & Prevention training, blood-borne pathogen training, and other training deemed necessary to the position.
- Implement de-escalation tools & practices, conflict resolution, crisis management, and critical decision-making; support peers in these practices.
- Engage with community members, and provide hospitality.
- Communicate policies to participants, staff, and visitors to ensure understanding of procedures.
- Protect participant confidentiality.
- Refer, advocate for, and assist clients with access to necessary resources
- Regularly attend staff and resident meetings as needed
- Collaborate regularly with community partners to determine best fit services
- Openly communicate leadership and CHW about concerns and progress relating directly to a client's case
- Other Duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 1-2 years experience working in homeless or social services, preferred
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required
- Familiarity with and ability to apply trauma-informed care approaches in client interactions
- Commitment to equity and inclusion
- Ability to work in stressful conditions while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude and an open mind.
- Understanding and experience in coordinating care and providing resources for those experiencing homelessness, addiction and/or a mental health diagnosis.
- Must exhibit the ability to maintain harmonious relationships with guests, staff, volunteers and community partners.
- Must be able to assume responsibility and carry out tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage crisis and deescalate situations.
- Detailed oriented and able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Comfortable taking the initiative with projects and tasks and taking them from start to completion.
- Effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
- Consistently maintains a professional demeanor and encourages individual respect.
- A team player who works collaboratively with others.
- Experience with MS 365 and web-based applications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
