Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing animals and equipment.
- Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests, analyze samples, and record results accurately to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as animal catheterization, wound care, and sample collection to prevent infection.
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, including grooming, feeding instructions, and post-operative care.
- Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to capture diagnostic images following proper safety protocols.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, monitoring animal behavior, and ensuring a safe environment for animals in our care.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning or polishing efforts.
- Handle animals with care during hospital stays or treatments, demonstrating strong knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document all procedures performed accurately.
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary technician experience or related animal care background is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with kennel management, pet grooming, dog training, and pet care is advantageous.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, aseptic techniques, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Ability to handle pets confidently and compassionately using proper restraint techniques.
- Excellent animal husbandry skills combined with the ability to perform animal catheterization and other technical procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate pet owners about animal health needs.
