Delivery Assistant

Overview

The Delivery Assistant supports the Route Driver in delivering Malley's delicious chocolates and candies to retail locations, special deliveries, and storage facilities. This position assists with loading, unloading, verifying deliveries, and maintaining the high standards of quality, efficiency, and customer service that Malley's Chocolates is known for.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Route Driver in safely loading, organizing, and securing products on delivery vehicles.
• Help unload products at retail stores and delivery sites, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and proper product handling.
• Support the Driver with route navigation, directions, and communication to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Assist with traffic control while driver is backing in/out of spaces – as needed.
• Verify product quantities and quality at each stop, reporting any discrepancies or damages to the Driver or Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior and assist with routine vehicle checks (e.g., cleanliness, product security).
• Provide courteous, professional service to Malley's store staff and customers during deliveries.
• Assist in warehouse and logistics operations as needed, including staging deliveries and restocking items.
• Follow all company safety policies and food-handling protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Route Driver, Warehouse Manager, or Lead.
• Other duties and tasks assigned by the Route Driver and/or management.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
• Ability to work in various environments, including hot, cold, and noisy conditions.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in delivery, warehouse, or material handling roles.
• Familiarity with basic food safety, ODA, GMP, or OSHA standards (training provided).
• Experience using pallet jacks or similar equipment.
