Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, culinary arts, and sushi craftsmanship, with a focus on delivering high-quality, beautifully presented sushi dishes in a fine dining environment. Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Create innovative sushi menus and assist with menu planning to keep offerings fresh and appealing
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Handle ingredients with care, including fish, rice, vegetables, and other sushi components
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Uphold the restaurant's standards for quality, taste, and presentation in every dish served
- Assist in catering events or special functions involving sushi or Japanese cuisine
Skills
- Proven experience in culinary arts, particularly in fine dining or Japanese cuisine
- Strong knife skills and expertise in food preparation techniques specific to sushi making
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and food service operations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Previous restaurant or catering experience preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is valued
