An Assistant Camp Director has an awesome summer outdoors, being a mentor to Campers, and providing fun all day long Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Camp is one of the outlets to make that mission a reality for many girls. The Assistant Camp Director is a part of that mission each summer.
As an Assistant Camp Director-Program, you will:
• Assist in the administration and coordination of the entire camp operation.
• Act as Camp Director in the absence of Camp Director.
• Assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of camp staff.
• Assist the Camp Director in planning and conducting staff meetings.
• Serve as a constant, visible and available resource for camp staff.
• Keep Camp Director informed of day-to-day operational successes and concerns.
• Keep and document required records and reports as requested by Camp Director.
• With help of the Member Service Specialist, oversee the Camp Store by managing camper transactions, inventory, and keeping accurate documentation.
• Develop and maintain good relationship with parents, serving as a liaison between parents and campers.
• Observe and supervise campers and staff behaviors, identify and respond to hazards, assist campers and staff in emergencies (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
• Prepare for and oversee check-in and check-out procedures.
• Guide staff in implementing Girl Scout program emphasis through advice or assistance in planning activities, use of resources, coordinating activities, and evaluating experiences.
• Promote progression in activities and experiences, matched to abilities and interests of the campers in all sessions.
• Provides guidance, assistance and leadership while maintaining Girl Scout, American Camping Association, federal, state and local health, safety and program standards.
• Serve as a driver when needed to transport campers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Believe in the mission of Girl Scouting.
• Good character, integrity, adaptability, patience, sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
• Hold or being willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR (training to be provided).
• Produce a physical signed by medical professional within the past 24 months.
• Training and/or experience working with children in an outdoor setting.
• Good time management, organization and communication skills.
• Ability to accept guidance and supervision and relate to one's peer group.
• Experience/education in childhood education, recreation, sociology or related field.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have excellent time management, organization, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate daily activities and special programs.
• Ability to supervise staff and perform administrative duties.
• Hold a current driver's license.
• Ability to pass a Background Check.
