Housekeeping Aide

Job Summary:

The Nursing Home Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Duties include cleaning resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and offices in accordance with facility policies and state/federal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, lounges, hallways, and offices
• Dust furniture, sweep, vacuum, mop floors, and remove trash
• Restock supplies such as toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisor
• Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are used and stored properly
• Work respectfully and compassionately around residents, respecting their privacy and dignity
• Follow housekeeping schedules and task lists
• Participate in training and continuing education as required
• Assist in emergency cleaning tasks as needed
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Good time management and attention to detail
• Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and move for extended periods

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to cleaning agents and potentially infectious materials
• Frequent walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs)
• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with elderly residents
