Primary Purpose:

Assist in providing for the security and protection of all student vehicles. To patrol and control traffic and parking on the school campus. Provide general security during the school day.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to clearly and accurately record information

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to work effectively with youth and adults

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)

Major Responsibilities and DutiesSafety Program Management:

  • Inspect all vehicles for proper stickers.
  • Conduct proper inspection of "off –campus passes" which allow students to leave during school day.
  • Greet visitors in courteous manner and direct to the proper parking area.
  • Question unauthorized persons and report to principal when necessary.
  • Patrol student parking lot during day to provide safety of vehicles.
  • Make written reports regarding needs of parking lot.
  • Report problems to office as required.
  • Maintain control of unauthorized and illegal parking.

Communication:

  • Display professionalism in dealing with students, parents, staff and community.
  • Approach problem solving tactfully with directness and integrity.
  • Work cooperatively with associates and in a positive manner.

  • Manifest support for and compliance with the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the district.
  • Demonstrate an interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge through continuing education and staff development.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle, two-way radio, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing

Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of mouse, moderate driving

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds)

Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; frequent districtwide travel.

Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged hours; on call 24 hours a day

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.32 per hour
