Job Summary
Open Hands Transit is hiring a Appliance Delivery Driver / Helper to join our growing team. This role involves driving delivery vehicles (for qualified drivers), loading and unloading appliances, and delivering items into customers' homes safely and professionally throughout parts of South Carolina and Georgia (you will be home daily). This is a physical, hands-on position ideal for dependable individuals who enjoy active work and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate box trucks for route deliveries.
• Deliver household appliances including refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, and dishwashers
• Work closely with a delivery partner to lift and maneuver heavy items
• Assist with basic appliance installation when trained
• Load and unload appliances using dollies, straps, sliders, and other moving equipment and securing appliances to ensure safe transportation.
• Inspect appliances for damage and report issues accurately
• Navigate delivery routes using GPS and adapt to traffic or route changes
• Deliver appliances to customers efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any questions or concerns professionally .
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the vehicle and delivery area.
• Follow all traffic laws and company policies during route driving.
• Follow all safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques

Job Requirements

• Valid driver's license and/or State ID and clean driving record (required for driver positions)
• All candidates must be able to pass a background check
• Ability to lift, push, and pull appliances up to 300 lbs. with a partner repeatedly throughout the day
• Comfortable working in tight spaces, stairways, and customer homes
• Ability to work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Flexible availability; days can very due to delivery routes.

Qualifications

• Basic appliance hookup experience (washers, dryers, refrigerators)
• Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with route driving experience.
• Experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles; manual transmission experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy loads frequently and perform heavy lifting tasks safely.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude.
• Ability to navigate routes efficiently and adhere to schedules.
• Physical ability to move boxes, equipment, and appliances as required.
• Prior experience with heavy lifting, moving, or warehouse operations is beneficial. Candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of handling physical tasks associated with delivery operations.
