Position Overview:
The Project Manager (PM)/Project Architect (PA) role is key to delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients. In these roles, you'll combine design skills and technical expertise with project management skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet Inspired ADUs' quality standards. You'll guide clients through the design, documentation, and permitting process, balancing their needs with practical design solutions and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. You'll be the primary contact for your clients and play a central role in ensuring project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Technical
- Demonstrate strong design and aesthetic skills aligned with the firm's portfolio
- Lead technical detailing across projects, including the development of custom details as needed and ongoing refinement, documentation, & standardization of the firm's detail library
- Lead permit comment resolution across architectural and consultant scopes, applying technical judgment and regulatory experience to resolve comments accurately, efficiently, and with minimal downstream risk
- Lead client meetings and maintain effective communication throughout project phases
- Understand and translate client goals into practical design solutions
- Develop project schedules, manage project fees (internal and consultants) against budgets, and monitor progress to meet targets
- Conduct zoning and feasibility research, including navigating local codes and regulations
- Build an appropriate consultant team for each project; coordinate with consultants and stakeholders, including city officials, to expedite permitting
- Produce detailed Revit-based project documentation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and coordination with consultant engineering
- Oversee construction administration, incl. GC page-turn kickoff, site visits, and issue resolution

Qualifications:
- Accredited architectural degree with 8+ years of residential design experience
- Proven expertise in project and client management, including meeting deadlines and managing project costs across many projects at once
- Strong proficiency in Revit, with experience in project documentation and 3D modeling
- Familiarity with web-based productivity tools (Airtable, Google Workspace) and ability to learn new software quickly
- Ability to conduct zoning, code, and permitting research, and work closely with city officials
- Experience with and passion for construction detailing for California residential construction - we're looking for someone who can happily geek out on details
- Proven track record for effective permit submission and approvals
- Experience, ability, and interest in leading CA process and activities for multiple projects
- Exceptional design, space planning, and technical skills, esp. for small residential spaces
- Strong communication, proactive problem-solving, adaptability in a dynamic work environment
Compensation Structure
Base Salary:
- Starting at $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience
- Bi-annual performance reviews & annual raise/promotion cycle
