We are hiring a diligent Shipping Clerk for our warehouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is vital for ensuring our products reach our customers accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within the logistics framework. You will be responsible for the end-to-end shipping process, from preparing documentation to coordinating with transportation partners. A commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient workspace is paramount. Your contributions will directly impact customer satisfaction and the overall success of our distribution operations.
Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Generate and verify shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation.
- Carefully package items to prevent damage during transit, selecting appropriate materials.
- Conduct final quality checks on packed orders before dispatch.
- Liaise with shipping carriers to arrange for pickup and delivery services.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all shipments in the WMS.
- Communicate effectively with sales, customer service, and warehouse teams regarding shipment status.
- Handle any shipping discrepancies or issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all workspace areas are kept clean and organized, following Safety best practices.
- Wear appropriate PPE as required by company policy and job function.
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role.
- Familiarity with shipping software and common carriers.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in performing light to moderate Lifting (up to 35 pounds).
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and Safety protocols.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team-player attitude with a willingness to assist others.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
