We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Inventory Control Specialist in Chicago, Illinois. This role is critical for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse inventory. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing inventory management procedures, conducting cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring that our inventory data is precise and up-to-date. Your work directly impacts our logistics efficiency and customer satisfaction. A strong understanding of inventory systems and warehouse operations is essential, as is a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment, including the proper use of PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Monitor inventory levels and report on stock status, identifying potential shortages or overages.
- Implement and enforce inventory control policies and procedures.
- Manage the return process, inspecting returned goods and updating inventory accordingly.
- Optimize warehouse layout and storage methods to improve inventory accessibility and space utilization.
- Train and guide warehouse associates on proper inventory handling and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the correct use of PPE and safe material handling practices.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends and provide recommendations for process improvements in our logistics operations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or a related field is required. Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform accurate counts and meticulous attention to detail. Familiarity with logistics and supply chain principles. Experience with cycle counting methodologies and physical inventory procedures. Must be able to perform moderate Lifting, typically up to 40 pounds. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Knowledge of safety best practices, including the importance of PPE. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving inventory issues is highly valued.
