We are looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our warehouse team in Portland, Oregon. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the movement, storage, and management of materials and products within our facility. Your duties will involve operating various types of material handling equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and ensuring that inventory is stored safely and organized efficiently. This position is fundamental to the smooth operation of our logistics chain, ensuring materials are where they need to be, when they need to be. We are committed to providing a safe working environment, and comprehensive training on safety procedures, including the use of PPE, will be provided. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
- Organize and maintain inventory in a systematic and accessible manner.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper working condition.
- Assist with receiving and put-away processes.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, emphasizing the proper use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory control activities, including cycle counting.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of warehouse logistics.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role is required. Valid forklift operator certification is a strong asset. Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment. Must be able to perform tasks requiring frequent lifting of up to 60 pounds. Requires ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus. Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented logistics environment.
